White Mountain Apache/ Tohono O’odham
Monica Wapaha, is an Arizona based multidisciplined artist. She earned her AFA in 2011 and BFA in 2013 from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In 2019 she earned her MFA from Arizona State University Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts in Printmaking. Her experience as an Indigenous woman is reflected in her artwork. Her art practices are an exploration of intersections of Ndee and Tohono O’odham views on colonial structures both historically and in a contemporary setting through various mediums, technique combinations of digital, conventional fine art, and traditional indigenous practices.
